Wed's Football has Returned - The Blacks are Back in Business!

Result: Blacks 10 Reds 6
Black Scorers: Paul W (5), Suggy (1), Guy (4)

Megs: Suggy on Afro (ha ha ha)!

Great win last night lads despite them having a man down, we played well and thoroughly deserved the points (especially given our Christmas bellies)!

Special mention goes to Paul Wilson those new boots bagged Paul the first hatrick of the season, going on to get 5 in total. Guy decided to put his shooting boots on too, and even yours truly scored, following perhaps the move of the match. Despite a rash challenge on Doug, from you guessed it Afro, the man at the back did a great job sweeping up the Reds limited goal threat, making a couple of excellent first touch Hollywood spray passes across field nice one Doug! Woody caused the Reds trouble down the flanks, supplying some perfectly weighted crosses, and Parkers, as always, provided stability in the centre of the field. Final mention goes to The Cat (Greeny) who kept us in the game with a string of brave saves (following a couple of howlers I should add
J)!

Well done boys lets see if we can put a little run together.

PS Tim wants to join our team. Brilliant.

The Reds win again

In what can only described as a change of fortune, the Reds continue to lengthen their winning streak at the Wandle. It must now be 4 on the trot, all-be-it narrow victories they have shown that they can play and dominate the Wednesday fixture at present.

The Whites thought that the unveiling on their new home strip would bring good fortune, but alas not. Even the sparkling display of Woody’s new white boots could not ignite the turf. Almy ran the show for the whites with
4 spectacular strikes hit with considerable pace. "Stick that in the Blog" he shouts as he pumps the fourth home! Swifty made it five will a well worked team effort.

The difference between the two sides was the effort. The Whites looked good going forward, but rued many chances, with Guy hitting skyward on many occasions. It was just one of those weeks.

The Reds, with all due respect played well and scored some good goals. Dave and Neil linking well in
the middle of the park and breaking well down the right at times kept the whites on their toes and pegged back.

The difference between the two sides on the night was team effort and finishing.
"The Reds cleaned their plate, while the whites left their greens"

Let's hope next week will bring a change of fortune with the return of Parker after resting a knee injury.

1st of 2007 for the Reds

After 4 successive wins on the bounce, bounce-back-ability came to the fore when the Reds claimed their first victory of 2007.

The game started slow but the Reds soon mounted a 3 goal lead. The Whites had forgotten to show up!
The week saw a change of fortune for the Reds as they showed great composure on the ball and marked well. The whites endevour proved fruitless as attempt after attempt went wide or sored over the wood-work.

It was a game the Whites should have won, or at least challenged for. Richard Clements made his last appearance after spending 5 years at the club prior to leaving for Oxford. However, with Clements at fault for two of the goals, arguements and frustrations were telling their toll on the night as head went down.

The Whites pulled one back with a great solo effort from Guy, but to be honest that was the highlight of the Whites performance.

The Whites will be looking to bounce back themselves this week, although with Guy, Sugg, Almy and Swifty out they will have muscle in and grind out a result.

4-1 the game finished. The evening won't be remebered, but the 5 years which Tricky gave the club, the effort and relentless enthusiasm will.

The Whites make it 4 out of 4

The Whites fielded another strong side as competition for places continues to be high after the Christmas break.

The Reds without Danny, fill the whole with another new face, proving that the red camp is far from settled and suggesting there is a rift in the back room staff.

The game promised to be another fantastic clash in what can only be described as freezing temperatures. The prospect of snow was high, but the prospect of the reds competing was low! They lacked the killer instinct they had some months ago and all too easily put there heads down and argued amongst themselves.

Maybe tides were turning…the Reds go one up!

However the whites were quick to retaliate. For the best part of the fixture the score was locked at 2-2, and then the Whites found there 5 gear! A combination of fitness and pace saw the Whites take advantage and find gaps in the Reds defence. Joe doing all he could alone at the back echoed the frustration of the whole team.

5-3 it finished.
The Whites dominate, whilst the Reds try to find their feet!

The Reds in search of a win

The reds met the whites for the 3rd time on the newly re-surfaced pitch, the reds still for first in 2007! With a team cobbled together in the absence of the Torquay boys (cheers for turning up this time and the Reds at full strength, it was going to be an uphill struggle for the white team who had never played together before.

In the early moves of the match, Justin (cue high pitched Justin Timberlake-esque EEE-HEE!!) left Walker almost nothing to do after a perfectly executed back heel into his path opened the scoring for the whites, 1-0. 2 more were added to Guy's personal tally the whites were stringing the ball around nicely the deck. Tim (Suggy's girlfriend's brother) was tireless at the back leaving the reds to shoot from range which, more of than not, came to nothing and was forever encouraging all of his team mates (Ahem!) especially Afro - I thought they were going to make love there and then on the pitch! The reds got themselves back into the game with some good movement by Nick up front and textbook defending from Neil at the back but once again the whites had the upper hand moved the scoring tally up to 7after Suggy "skinned 3 people" and hit the right angle!

The game finished 7-5 which was a fair representation on the game - the whites had the edge. Thanks to Justin, Tim and Poya for filling in at the last moment.

Reds?! When will your first win come? It doesn't look like happening any time soon.
