The Whites welcome the New Year with a BANG!

After the prolonged Christmas break, the eager prospect of playing Wednesday footy was upon us.

Wednesday, 3rd January saw the first game for almost 6 weeks being played at the new Wandle Stadium. The newly laid pitch promised to produce some sublime football...and it did!

The Whites turned out their first and strongest team for some months, with the Reds boasting a team of equal stature with the return of Danny, and a fully fit Neil. It promised to be a truly epic clash, as ambitions were high and the excitement could be felt as far away as GJ's.

The game kicked of in festive style, with both teams welcoming each other back to the epic, new, Wandle Stadium.

The Red's soon went 1-0 up after some forgettable goal keeping from Tricky!! However when the teams became all square with 7 men a-piece, the Whites began to show their fitness by commanding a comfortable lead.

With the game poised at 4-3 Woodsy made an epic run to get on the end of a pin point, telepathic ball from Parker to make it 5-3 to The Whites, upon which Guy and Swifty added to make it 7-3 with only minutes to spare.

Danny, back from international duty down under, and some what lacking match fitness, secured a late consolation goal for The Reds after being denied 3 times by the wood-work.

7-4 it finished, with The Whites looking strong and The Reds lacking fitness after the festive break...to many mince pies me thinks!
